Craft: Glitter State Shapes on Canvas

This was an off the cuff craft a friend and I threw together tonight. I think it's one of my favorites yet. I don't have any beginning pictures but I'll explain the process. We took an 8x8 canvas and painted one side white and the other red. Let dry. We printed state shapes off the internet. Cut out the shapes. Traced them on the painted canvas. We, then, took a bottle of glue and covered inside the shape with it. Poured some royal blue glitter on top of the glue shape.

Let it dry. Shake the excess glue off. You can, also, use a small dry paint brush in sweeping away the glitter and cleaning up the edges.

You end up with this.

You then stencil on the state name or you can write it freehand with a sharpie. Final results:

Turkey Pot Pies

Thanksgiving is over and while everyone else was out spending money and fighting the crowds, I was doing one of my favorite family traditions... making turkey pot pies out of my leftover turkey. I started doing this about 10 years ago and somehow the holiday does not feel complete without it. You'll need your leftover turkey, 2 cans of condensed Cream of Chicken soup, a bag of mixed vegetables, some refrigerated crescent dough rolls and some aluminum pans.

Chop the turkey.

Make the mixture of soup(no water added), the vegetable mix and the chopped turkey.

Roll out your crescent dough and mold it into your pans.

Fold the mixture into each pan.

Roll out your top crust and mold it into the top of the pan.

Put in zip lock freezer bags to store. You can pull them out for a quick dinner. They are really good, if I do say so myself. Enjoy!!!!!

Craft: Crayola Crayon Art

I am a Pinterest addict..... I absolutely love it. I am constantly perusing the site trying to find the next thing that I can make. My friend, Eileen, and I decided we would attempt crayon art. It seemed simple enough with a major impact. All you need is a flat canvas, a box of crayons, some tacky glue and a blow dryer.

Line up your crayons at the top in groupings of colors that pleases your eye. When you have it figured out, glue each one down only putting glue on the paper portion of the crayon.

Now it's blow dryer time. Tilt your canvas and hit the crayon ends with the blow dryer until they start to melt and colors start running down the canvas. Please be sure to have a newspaper or paper bag in under the canvas while you do this part because sometimes the colors will squirt sideways.

Just keep at it until they run down as far as you want them to.

I felt like it needed something else so I painted "Color my World" freehand. If I did it again, however, I would probably take the time to paint them on with stencils. At any rate, this is how it ended up and I do like it. I plan on framing and hanging it eventually.
